Study of the climate change impact on fishers’ livelihood near the Padma river in Munshiganj, Bangladesh

Climate change is a contemporary global threat to the whole world especially in coastal area like Bangladesh. Bangladesh extremely vulnerable climate impacts because of its geographical location. This research an attempt assess on fishersʹ livelihood selected hotspot zone Munshiganj. In study area, average sex ratios male and female were 56.67% 43.33%, respectively their religion ratio Islam 45% Hindu 55%. There was 60% nuclear family 40% joint family. About 86.4% house tin-shed drinking water source only tube well. Munshiganj, 11% fishers illiterate, 27% had primary, 38% secondary, 16% higher secondary 8% bachelor. Most people about 59% depended Upazila Health Complex for health issues. Highest percentage annual income 20,001 24,000 BDT. 62.7% agreed with statements: reduce fish production, damage fishing ground, blockage migration road, biodiversity, increasing temperature, enhance soil erosion, rainfall, siltation, flow, storm frequency, changing spawning season, decrease extinction species. women children are affected severely i.e. malnutrition, education, treatment, early marriage etc. The present clearly indicates that there visible changes condition fishers‟ areas Munshiganj.
